Along with nursing and hospital leadership, Gilmore’s husband, mother, father, and youngest son, Tyree, were in attendance. Her older son joined in on a video call. During the ceremony, Vicki Rembold, director of nursing operations shared, “Carlotta is compassionate, kind, caring, resilient, consistent and motivated. She works hard and strives to do her best. You can tell that she has a caregiver's heart, and she always goes the extra mile for her patients and her co-workers.”
Following a tearful reception, Gilmore shared, “Receiving the BEE Award means a lot to me. It shows me that my hard work is paying off. It lets me know that I work with special and loving people, and I feel blessed. This makes me feel really good about the job I’m doing with our team."
The BEE award is presented throughout the year to honor the extraordinary care provided by non-nursing support staff that go above and beyond to make an impact outside their daily duties. The support of other care providers is the foundation upon which a patient’s healthcare team can maintain phenomenal care and advocacy. Just as the Daisy cannot survive without the Bee, the nurses cannot survive without the outstanding teamwork provided by other healthcare professionals.
