New Year's Baby 2019
EDEN – Jan. 3, 2019 -- It never crossed the minds of Brittany Turner and Adrian Williamson that their fourth child could be the first baby born in Rockingham County in 2019.
And why should it? The Eden couple was not expecting their new arrival until mid-February.
But Baby Amir Anthony had other intentions.
On Wednesday evening, Jan. 2, Turner felt the first contraction sometime after 9 p.m. Williamson tried to persuade her that it was probably Braxton Hicks, the mild contractions that sometimes occur weeks before the birth.
Turner knew better, and since her third child was born after a 20-minute labor, she wasn’t taking any chances. The couple phoned 911 and an ambulance rushed Turner to UNC Rockingham.
Amir Anthony was born at 10:33 p.m., just 10 minutes after arriving at the hospital. The baby weighs 3 pounds, 1 ounce.
Turner is eager to get the newest member of the family home where he has a 2-year-old sister and brothers who are 1 and 6.
The UNC Rockingham Health Care Auxiliary presented the family with a diaper bag filled with goodies from the Small Pleasures Gift Shop.
