Get high-quality care for your bones, joints, and muscles from UNC Health Rockingham. You’ll benefit from our partnership with UNC Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Eden, which gives you access to complete orthopedic care and surgery close to home.

Conditions We Treat

Turn to board-certified UNC orthopedic specialists if you experience symptoms and conditions, such as:

  • General Orthopedics
  • Fracture treatments / surgery
  • Sports related injuries - Plantar fasciitis injury, IT Band Syndrome, Tendonitis treatment, overuse injuries
  • Work-related injuries

Accurate Diagnosis

Your specialist will give you a physical examination and may use imaging tests, such as computerized tomography (CT) scan, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, or an X-ray, to help diagnose the cause of your symptoms.

Orthopedic Treatments

Your orthopedist may want you to try nonsurgical methods to improve your symptoms. These treatments may include:

  • Anti-inflammatory medicine – Lessen inflammation, swelling, and pain
  • Gel / Visco supplementation injections
  • Physical therapy – Improves strength and movement using exercises
  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy – Removes plasma from your blood to inject into injured tendons, muscles, or joints to promote healing
  • Steroid injections – Reduce swelling and pain in joints and tissue

Procedures & Surgeries

If you don’t get relief from nonsurgical treatments, you and your doctor may decide orthopedic surgery is your best treatment option. When possible, your orthopedic surgeon will perform your procedure using minimally invasive techniques. That means you’ll have a smaller incision, less pain, and a faster recovery than if you had traditional surgery.

Choose UNC Health Rockingham for safe, exceptional orthopedic procedures and surgeries, including:

  • Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction
  • Arthroscopic surgery - knee and shoulder
  • Carpal tunnel surgery
  • CMC Arthroplasty
  • Cubital tunnel surgery
  • Tennis elbow surgery
  • Total and Partial hip replacement
  • Trigger finger surgery
  • Partial and total knee replacement
  • Rotator cuff tears / repairs
  • Shoulder joint replacement

Precision Total Knee Replacement

When you need surgery to replace the damaged part of your knee, trust your UNC orthopedic surgeon to choose the best implant for you. You’ll benefit from our careful surgical planning.

Using advanced imaging and computer-based tools, your surgeon makes a precise “map” of your knee. The map helps your surgeon determine the position, size, and fit for your knee implant before surgery. Preplanning lets your surgeon perform accurate surgery in less time with a better outcome for you.

Total Joint Class

Prepare for your surgery and recovery by attending the Total Joint Class at UNC Health Rockingham. You’ll learn what to expect before, during, and after surgery from rehabilitation therapists. We’ll register you for the next Total Joint Class when your doctor’s office schedules your surgery at UNC Health Rockingham.

You’ll start recovering in the hospital with help from our physical and occupational therapists.
